A clip posted by Tennis star Serena Williams went viral for showcasing a "twirl-off" with her and a Hampton University Baton Twirler during the recent Invesco QQQ Legacy Classic.

The video, posted on Williams' Instagram page, shows her courtside with Hampton twirler Simeon Guyton, each taking turns doing tricks with a baton.

The video has received over 120,000 likes within less than 24 hours. In the comments, people show their support toward Williams and Guyton for positively representing HBCUs and HBCU band culture. Celebrities like Ciara and Angelica Ross have also shown some love in the comments.

Guyton, a second-year at Hampton, said he was surprised that she posted the video.

"I woke up and saw that someone named Serena had tagged me in something, I didn't go to check because her full name didn't come up on my phone," Guyton said. "I don't know a Serena so I thought it was a scam."

Guyton said almost immediately after, his phone began blowing up with people texting him about the video. That's when he realized it was indeed Williams.

"It was crazy because I thought she had actually forgot about our little twirl off because it was weeks ago," Guyton said. "She's a very huge and busy icon so I wasn't upset, but when I saw she posted it I was like 'omg she actually did it and remembered me.'"

Guyton says he's just glad that he made people proud. He recalled that at first, he didn't realize it was Williams.

"We were warming up, stretching and such, you know, getting ready for halftime...and she was in our warm area," Guyton said. " I didn't know it was her because she had her mask on so I thought it was just a lady, but then one of her assistants came to me and asked me if this lady could see my baton."

When Williams took off the mask, Guyton was surprised.

"She takes off her mask and I yell 'OMG YOUR SERENA WILLIAMS!!' and everyone starts laughing but she's like 'shhh' and I'm just like ok," Guyton said.

Williams was at the Invesco QQQ Legacy Classic to award $1 million to the winner of the Legacy Classic HBCU Startup Pitch Competition.
